The Convention to
Eliminate Discrimination Against Women, an
international treaty known by the acronym CEDAW,
contains key provisions for the protection of women's
human rights. The United States participated in
drafting the Convention and signed it in 1980.
This country has yet to join over 160 nations,
however, in ratifying the Convention.
You can help secure
U.S. ratification of this critical treaty by writing
to your two U.S. Senators and requesting their active
support and vote for ratification in the current
session of Congress.
Select your state,
and a sample letter will be automatically generated
for you addressed to your state's Senators. You
can then copy it into your word processor to send by
post or fax.
