Won't You Help Halt Religious Persecution

A law passed in Russia during 1997 creates, in effect, several classes of religion. While the rights accorded to each class vary, the new law places severe restrictions on faith communities and religious associations.

The law affects Christians, including Orthodox congregations not affiliated with the Moscow Patriarchate, as well as Buddhists, Jews, and Muslims. Your letter to Russian authorities can help mount international pressure on the government there to stop religious intolerance and violations of the right to freedom of religion. Enter your name and address, and a sample letter will be automatically generated for you addressed to President Yeltsin.  You can then copy it into your word processor to send by post or fax.  It costs $0.60 to mail a letter from the United States to Russia.
