General background

Leaders of the National Campaign to Commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights have identified four specific, practical steps that can significantly advance human rights protection in today's world. Your letters will help turn each of these recommended steps into achievements. What is needed?

Letter 1:
A White House Summit on Human Rights

Letter 2:
U.S. ratification of the international Women's Convention (CEDAW) 

Letter 3:
Successful work by the International Criminal Tribunals for Bosnia and Rwanda and establishment of a permanent International Criminal Court.

Letter 4:
Stronger international support for the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
