Won't You Help Spread the Word on Free Expression
Burmese authorities severely restrict free expression and routinely punish individuals who peacefully exercise their right to free expression. Writing a poem, producing a video, or commenting in local media on current events can result in long terms of imprisonment.

You can join the international drive to restore free expression in Burma by printing this petition, signing it, and asking friends and colleagues to sign it. Then mail it to the U.S. Secretary of State at:

Honorable Madeleine K. Albright
Secretary of State of the United States
Department of State
2201 C Street NW
Washington, DC 20520

Petitions also can be faxed to the Secretary of State: (202) 647-5939.

The impact of your petition will be increased significantly if you mail a copy of it to:

Ambassador Tin Winn
Embassy of the Union of Myanmar (Burma)
2300 S Street NW
Washington, D.C. 20008
